چکیده

This study presents an electrically actuated tilting micro platform based on liquid dielectrophoresis with three axes movement using droplets situated 120° apart from each other. The interdigitated electrodes produce a non-uniform electric field that generates body force. dielectrophoretic mechanism is responsive within at least 30 ms, and it eliminates the solid-solid contact. enabled angular coverage up to 0.9° (±0.02°), maximum displacement of 120 µm. micromirror has beam steering characteristics suitable for various optical applications. actuating sensor cost-effective simple alternative method without measuring droplet contact angle. Furthermore, unique configuration any offers potential improvement applications in optics, actuators, other conventional microelectromechanical systems.

Liquid dielectrophoresis on the microscale

Polarizable liquids respond to a non-uniform electric "eld by collecting preferentially in regions of maximum "eld intensity. This manifestation of dielectrophoresis (DEP) is a wellknown example of the ponderomotive force, with the "eld acting on individual (molecular) dipoles in the liquid. When electrode dimensions are scaled down to &10 to 100 m, liquid DEP makes possible a new type of high-...

Capillarity and dielectrophoresis of liquid deuterium

The ponderomotive force, exerted upon all dielectric liquids by a non-uniform electric field, can be used for the remote, voltage-controlled manipulation of 10 to 100μL volumes of cryogenic liquids. This liquid dielectrophoretic (DEP) effect, imposed by specially designed electrodes, combines with capillarity to influence the hydrostatic equilibria of liquid deuterium. A simple, one-dimensional...

Joule Heating Effects on Insulator-based Dielectrophoresis

ABSTRACT We present an experimental and numerical study of Joule heating in a polymeric insulator-based dielectrophoresis (iDEP) device. In this study, we used a microscale thermometry technique based upon the temperature-sensitive fluorescence of Rhodamine B dye to monitor the fluid temperature within our iDEP microfluidic devices. We then complemented our experiments with 3D finite element si...

Microfluidic Pumping based on Traveling-Wave Dielectrophoresis

This paper presents a microfluidic pumping approach using traveling-wave dielectrophoresis (twDEP) of microparticles. With this approach, the flow is generated directly in the microfluidic devices by inducing strong electromechanical effects in the fluid using integrated microelectrodes. The fluidic driving mechanisms due to the particle-fluid and particle-particle interactions under twDEP are ...
